Creating lifelong memories for clients and guests
If you’re from South Jersey, hearing someone say they’re attending an event at The Merion is not uncommon. You may have even been to a wedding, party or business function there at some point. Either way, its reputation for excellence is well known, so when Young’s Landscape was first engaged to design and build The Merion’s South Garden in 2005, we recognized just what a privilege it would be to create something as beautiful as they do. So, while commercial landscaping is different than residential, in this case, we were going to be a part of creating lifelong memories for their clients and guests.
According to Tim Kalvaruzos, President of The Merion, it all started with a knock on the door. One of Young’s team approached him and asked for the opportunity to bid on a project. More than ten years and three additional onsite projects later, Young’s remains Tim’s first call when it comes to landscape design and care. The specifics of each job speak to the unique nature of both The Merion and Young’s ~ each looking to create breathtaking settings for clients. The South Garden was followed by the North Garden a few years later, the front entrance plantings in 2012 and most recently, the North Patio and ceremony area in 2016. Natural landscapes were complemented with exquisitely designed hardscapes, dramatic lighting and cascading water features, including a waterfall bridge. And, for those evenings when there’s a chill, fire pits add warmth and glow.
The Merion is not the only facility where Tim has worked with Young’s. They’ve done several projects at The Waterfall Catering in Claymont, Delaware – having taken home an NJLCA 2017 Landscape Achievement Award for their work. Currently, the team is also working together at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
“Countless times I have approached Dan with what seems to be the craziest of ideas,” Tim recalls. “Somehow he and his team can take my thoughts and not only put them on paper but make them happen.” After using other landscape firms in the past who have been late to deliver inferior results, Young’s has proven to be the opposite. “They go beyond offering excellent, on time service. They care and really want to (and do) make dreams into reality.”
Words are great, but pictures often say more. Take a look.
