Landscape Laborer

General Statement of Duties: to assistant the crew leader with the work, performing maintenance, landscaping, and hardscaping. The employee will be required to operate and use various small engine equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To follow the best practices for planting trees & shrubs, mulching, and lawn maintenance.
  • Proper pruning of trees and shrubs
  • Will follow all company safety policies and practices
  • Operate & maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks:
  • Ability to operate mowers, dingos & chipper
  • Small engine equipment; sod cutter, mowers, tamper, core aerator, etc…
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
  • Good housekeeping; Trucks will not have garbage left in them and will be cleaned out daily and washed on a biweekly basis as needed.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Landscape Designer

General Statement of Duties: This candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, creative, visionary, and collaborative on projects. This individual will be responsible for the design and sales of residential and commercial projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Using creativity and the beauty of nature to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional area. Areas will include residential, parks, commercial sites, and more.
  • Proficient in Pro Landscape, AutoCADD, DynaScape, PhotoShop, Sketch UP, or similar programs.
  • Able to hand sketch and color renderings
  • Planning the finished product, tying in new features with current ones, by sketching it to scale. These drawings will be very detailed, down to the window and door placement on the buildings.
  • Performing site analyses that include the assessment of current plants, site conditions, lighting, the view, and the architecture style of the house.
  • The ability to communicate & coordinate with clients and co-workers (contractors, supervisors, etc) on the landscaping team.
  • Knowledge of plants and their ability to survive in an area, guidelines, and codes.
  • Hardscape – the ability to take field measurements and accurate elevations for proposed grading plans and solutions to site conditions. Ability to understand, design, and build both masonry and segmental applications to include but not limited to walls, steps, outdoor kitchen areas, patios, and driveways.
  • Outdoor lighting – the ability to design, estimate and install a professional outdoor lighting system.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Reviewing plans, proposed changes, and any other necessary documents.
  • Oversees the progression of the project to ensure that it is going as planned.
  • Keeping records, including everything from correspondence to reports.
  • Sales & presentation skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

The candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Contracting, Horticultural or a related Landscape Field
  • Minimum of 5 years Landscape Design/Build with the sales presentation experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proper plant Identification & design
  • Detailed organizational skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours that include weekends
  • General understanding of site construction including drainage and grading
  • Field experience in landscape and hardscape

This is a full-time salary position and offers discretionary bonus pay based on individual and team accomplishments. Salary commiserates with experience.

PHC Specialist

General Statement of Duties: Young’s Landscape Management is an award-winning residential landscape company providing custom design-build services to clients in the Tri-State area. We are currently seeking a PHC Specialist in Lumberton, New Jersey. This candidate should be ambitious and a self-starter that has a passion for caring for ornamental trees and shrubs for our residential and commercial clients.

Job Responsibilities:

Performs ornamental applications, also includes record keeping, report writing, customer relations, routing, job site inspections, inventory control, equipment maintenance & calibration.

  • Able to obtain Pesticide Applicator License (Category 3A, 3B & Core)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Able to identify and diagnose insects, fungus & disease with tree & shrub
  • Strong plant identification skills
  • Understands and follows all labels and instructions for product use
  • Enforces all company policies with handling and storage of pesticide products.
  • Enforces best practices and procedures of mixing and transportation of all pesticide products.
  • Properly applies all pesticides
  • Will dispose of all pesticide containers properly and safely
  • Effectively operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs repeatedly
  • Must be able to kneel/bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to follow direction

Landscape Production Supervisor

Young’s Landscape Management is an award-winning residential landscape company providing custom design-build services to clients in the Tri-State area has, an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Landscape Production Supervisor. This individual will be responsible for all phases of landscape production for residential/commercial projects.

General Statement of Duties: Supervises and participates in all landscape and hardscape projects. Will manage and assign tasks to crew leaders. Monitors the work qualityensuring crew safety training and development of employees. The Landscape Supervisor leads and participates in performing various landscaping and horticultural functions, maintenance tasks, and equipment operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Tree & Shrub planting; working knowledge of horticultural practices.
  • Proper pruning of trees and shrubs; working knowledge of horticultural practices and plant identification.
  • Ability to read landscape blueprints and interpret conceptual drawings.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in landscape
  • Knowledgeable with herbicides & pesticides
  • To lead by example, follow and enforce all company safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate & maintain all equipment: Loaders, skid-steer & various small engine
  • Ability to drive and operate truck & trailer

Mechanic

General Statement of Duties: We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to maintain our fleet of vehicles and small engine equipment. This is a permanent full-time position, available immediately. You will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of our vehicles and equipment. This individual must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Must have maintenance and repair knowledge with small engines, vehicles, trailer wiring and repair, minor heavy equipment repair, machine malfunction diagnosis. Hours vary with seasons. Must have a valid driver’s license.

General Statement of Duties: The employee leads and participates in performing various landscaping functions, maintenance tasks, and equipment operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To assist Crew Leaders and team members that all best practices are followed with the installation of paver patios; stone, wood, or segmental block retaining walls and garden ponds.
  • The ability to read landscape design prints and implement the landscape construction plan is a plus but not required.
  • Understanding elevations and using this knowledge to execute the construction plan is a plus but not required.
  • To follow and enforce the company’s safety policies and procedures
  • To assist Crew Leader and team members with securing all tools required for the job prior to leaving the yard
  • Properly set up a safe work zone
  • Ability to operate & maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks:(Loaders, dingos, skid-steer, chipper & tractors, Etc.)
  • Ability to learn how to operate and use plate compactors, stone grinders, drills, gas and electric chop saws, demolition hammers, and jackhammers.
  • Ability to drive and operate truck & trailer
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
