It is important to understand that there is more than one management method when preventing and controlling pest problems in the landscape.
Cultural Control -This is simply providing the sustainable landscape practices that implement proper irrigation, pruning and otherwise general care of plants and trees. Many pest problems that occur are often because proper cultural practices were not in place to begin with.
Mechanical Control – are controls outside of pesticide application such as controlling weeds with mulch, or clipping and disposing of infected plant material to stop the spread of a particular pest or disease.
Environmental Controls – this is used to suppress pest infestation by adjusting light, humidity, and/or temperature that affects the plant or tree. Removing or thinning to let more light in for example could be considered an environmental control.
Chemical control – finally there is pesticide or aka chemical control. This control has taken a lot of heat over the last few years because of the damage it has caused over the years. However, it is a great and very effective tool when controlling pest problems. Chemical control should only be used as a temporary solution and implemented with other pest management methods mentioned above.
Mulch is valuable for the tree and shrubs health care:
- Mulch insulates the soil helping to provide a buffer from heat and cold temperatures.
- Mulch retains water helping to keep the roots moist.
- Mulch keeps weeds out to help prevent root competition.
- Mulch prevents soil compaction.
- Mulch reduces lawn mower damage.

The fabric adds strength and does not allow the aggregate to migrate into the subsoil.
We did not design, engineer or construct the original wall. Many times the walls are only rated for the original load and backfill levels originally installed. We construct this new wall, close to the existing wall, to support the new load and protect the integrity of the existing wall/ structure.
The base is where your value and added longevity of the project will come from. All hardscape companies can purchase similar natural or precast products. The differences are in the base construction details as well as the craftsmanship.
Polymeric sand has a number of benefits over regular sand. Polymeric sand deters weed establishment, and erosion, resists ant burrowing and allows joint movement during changes of weather.
Our design staff will check with the local fire and code officers to make sure that your fire pit conforms to the local regulations. Property line setbacks, setbacks from structures and diameter of the proposed fire pit are all stipulated under the building, zoning and fire codes.

There are many uses for synthetic turf. From providing the beauty of a lawn in the shade, a pool surrounds to a seashore or sandy environment to pet areas to athletic uses such as play areas, putting greens and bocce courts, where synthetic turf can be used is really up to your imagination.

Young’s Synthetic turf manufactured by Synthetic Turf International is composed of yarns which could be one or a combination of Polyethylene, Polypropylene and Nylon. The backing on the majority of products is Polyurethane.
The products we install are lead free.
The lawn turf is all perforated to allow rain water to perk into the soil.
Yes, in fact the use of synthetic turf in kennels and for pet areas appears to be on the increase. We do many installations where the primary purpose is for the pets. Young’s does recommend that Nylon products are avoided in pet uses because the Nylon will absorb pet waste and can have an odor. The other turfs will be rinsed with natural rainfall or it can be flushed with a hose during a drought or dry condition.

Yes, there are non –sand filled Nylon and sand filled Polypropylene greens. Our staff will discuss the pros and cons of each with you to determine which is the best product to improve/ practice your game.
Lighting
The solution is in the science. Coastal Sources fixtures uses are made entirely of brass. The housing, the nuts, and the bolts. Where other companies fail is using dissimilar metals which rust and corrode with the slightest introduction of water or humidity. Coastal Source products are durable, functional and forever serviceable.
The simple answer is NO. The Coastal Source light fixture is designed as a totally self-contained fixture with multiple light settings. This single light fixture is adjustable to allow a tight beam of light to pin point a specific plant or architectural feature. Thanks to built in adjustment capabilities the light can be changed to allow a wider spread of light showcasing and entire garden or seating area. One light, many applications. The Coastal Source lighting system is designed to be used with LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) or standard bulbs. LED bulbs are known for producing a softer light, a glow. By using LED you totally eliminate the possibility of harsh lighting.
Patina is the change in an object’s surface resulting from natural aging. Patina highlights the modeling of brass and enhances its beauty. Since Coastal Source landscape light fixtures are made of solid brass you can expect your fixtures to naturally patina over time. The Statue of Liberty gets her beautiful green color from the natural patina formed on her copper surface.
The fixtures will gracefully darken over time from a bright gold, to a warm amber. This will in no way affect the performance or longevity of your fixtures. Each fixture is designed to blend in with your landscape over time and will darken with age. Even patina cannot be guaranteed since metals such as brass and copper will react to the oil on your hands as well as the chemicals and fertilizers used in your yard. These oils and chemicals will accelerate the effects of patination and will typically do so in a non-uniform manner.
